Greece Unveils New Tourism Links to Türkiye with Fresh Routes and Major Promotion Push

The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in Türkiye has taken a significant step to deepen travel ties by promoting new Greek destinations to the Turkish market, coinciding with the launch of several direct seasonal flights from Istanbul.

AEGEAN Airlines, Greece’s flagship carrier, has rolled out four new summer routes linking Istanbul to top island hotspots—Heraklion (Crete), Rhodes, Mykonos, and Santorini. Additionally, a brand-new Thessaloniki–Izmir connection will debut in June, offering twice-weekly service and further enhancing cross-border accessibility.

To amplify the momentum, the GNTO hosted an exclusive promotional event in Istanbul, attracting travel industry professionals and media from across Türkiye. The goal was to spotlight both well-loved and lesser-known Greek destinations, while encouraging early bookings and strengthening bilateral tourism flows.

Speaking at the event, Greece’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Konstantinos Koutras, emphasized tourism’s power to bridge cultures and foster unity. He positioned Greece as an all-season destination rich in experiences—ideal for everyone from sunseekers to cultural explorers.

More than 160 attendees—including tour operators, travel agents, journalists, and influencers—participated in the event. The atmosphere celebrated the enduring cultural connection between Greece and Türkiye, rooted in shared history, geographic proximity, and mutual appreciation of warm hospitality.

Maria Rachmanidou, who heads the GNTO Türkiye office, highlighted the wide spectrum of travel experiences awaiting Turkish visitors—from coastal escapes to inland adventures—and reinforced the idea that tourism can be a powerful tool for economic and cultural cooperation between the two nations.
